Social Media Workshop for Post-growers

The desire to reach a wider audience via social media through substantive short videos on policy issues led to the idea of ​​involving other interested parties and partners committed to the mission of "degrowth." In September 2026, an international training event titled "Social Media Video Making Workshop for Post-Growers" will take place in Tartu in collaboration with degrowth organizations from Norway and Denmark; the workshop will result in a selection of well-crafted, science-based informational clips that can be used to promote a sustainable worldview.

The project aims to:

• Provide fact-based information on complex societal issues in an easily digestible short-video format, thereby fostering fact-based discussion.

• Diversify the Estonian social media landscape with science-based and balanced messages regarding sustainability, acting as a counterweight to the populist rhetoric that tends to intensify in the run-up to elections.

• Popularize a scientific perspective on environmental issues and sustainability among young people and the general public.

• Enhance the communication capabilities of partner organizations and foster collaboration between academia and advocacy groups.

The project is supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers and Tallinn University’s SustainERA project.
