Satellite: Citizen's Panel on Good Life

In January and February 2026, the Citizen's Panel on Good Life convened to discuss the kind of economic and social policies Estonia needs to ensure greater well-being for both people and nature. The assembly was formed through a random selection of 30 Estonians, representing a cross-section of the population based on various demographic characteristics.

A citizens' assembly is an effective deliberative democracy method that helps strengthen the collective will for sustainable change by involving people whose voices are rarely heard in mainstream public discourse.

Ordinary people from across Estonia engaged in in-depth discussions on poverty and economic inequality, reaching a shared conclusion: Estonia is facing a crisis that threatens to undermine its future. The assembly's report highlights five critical societal issues that Estonia must address as a matter of priority.

The Citizen's Panel on Good Life was organized by the think tank Praxis. The organizing team included several members affiliated with the organization Tasaarengu Eesti (Degrowth Estonia). There are no other connections to the Tasaarengu Eesti NGO.
